Open Return

This is a new gas furnace with an open return. All gas forced air furnaces are required to have the cold air return ducted from the main living area. When as in this case the return is adjacent to the heater any fumes etc. from the heater will be distributed trough out the building. Typically the gas company would "red tag" and shut this system down.
