Failed roof vent flashing

The roof vent was not properly installed at the time of the original installation. The use of roof cement to seal flashings or make repairs is not acceptable. Removal of the vent and the proper installation beneath the shingles is the only way to repair this defect. This as with all roof flashing repairs should be performed by a professional roofer.
